ABOUT US
Years ago, we purchased 5 acres of land near the SIUE campus in Edwardsville, Illinois, with the intention of reaching out to the students attending there. Our desire was not only to invite them into a saving relationship with Jesus but also into what we believed was a very real move of God among the youth. There is a call to prayer and worship that the Spirit is awakening in His church all around the world. Our desire remains the same.
We remodeled a house on the property to use for our gatherings, configuring it to facilitate prayer and worship, as well as fellowship and the teaching of the Word. Since then, we have continued in that house, as the Lord has chosen to develop our unique expression of His church in Metro East St. Louis .
We did also understand the distinct identity of the land that surrounded us. It had been named the Land of Goshen over 220 years previously in what we believe was a prophetic declaration recorded by a Baptist minister as he stood on the bluffs overlooking the luxuriant vegetation of the area. References to this "Land of Goshen" have persisted since that time.
We identified this land of Goshen with the biblical land of the same name. That land was opened to Jacob and his whole family as a place of security and provision in the land of Egypt by his son, Joseph. It was a wonderful sovereign act of God to allow for the survival and blessing of the nation of Israel. We pray that we can also be a place of provision and security in Jesus' name. We invite all to come and visit us in the Metro East.
Thus, we called ourselves, Goshen House.
OUR VISION
Jesus Christ is our vision. Everything we do flows from our relationship with Him. We love Him, abide in His Word and are being conformed into His image day by day by the work of the Father.
We are His Body on earth, and we have a vision to see unity among His churches as the Body of Christ connects in love and purpose.
We have a vision for night and day prayer, combined with praise and worship, to be raised up by the Spirit in the Metro East.
We have a vision to see and participate in a move of Holy Spirit taking place on the SIUE campus.
We have a vision to see children and the younger generation come to know the love of God and the salvation in Jesus' name.
We have a vision to see Jesus Christ exalted as Lord over the Metro East and the St. Louis Metro area. To Him be the glory.
OUR COMMUNITY
We are believers committed to simple and wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ.
Our worship seeks His presence and our teaching is grounded in His Word, the Bible.
It is His love that compels us and His grace that empowers us to live holy lives. It is His glory that we seek, for He alone is worthy.
We are vitally connected to the whole Body of Christ, especially those that work and serve our own community.
We share the Lord's heart for prayer and intercession and desire to see a move of the Spirit of God in Metro-East St. Louis.
We see our spiritual community as more than those who meet only on Sunday. We see every opportunity to get together with one another as and opportunity to invite Jesus into the conversation.
It is in community that we learn to love. And as we learn, we become more like Him.
